08-12-2015 These people tried to call me several times today. No - it is not Chase. They are scammers impersonating Chase. It's doubtful that they know you have a Chase account, but it's possible. More likely, they got your name and email from somewhere on the Internet. I provide electronic payment services for businesses, so my email and number are posted several places. I got a rather obvious phish email from them 2 days ago - opened it with my iPhone in case there was an executable file or some bad stuff attached. Then I forwarded it to Chase security. They have their emails set with an automatic response to send them a confirmation if one is opened. Then - they know you got it and they call. Slick, but not slick enough. I guess if they get a few people each day - they can make a dirty living.
I had been receiving this call a few times the last several days. Never answered but decided to call back. Automated voice sounds almost like the one Chase uses. Message that is said, "Thank you for returning our call. Please enter your 16 digit card number or 9 digit social security number." Yeah right! I hung up and called Chase bank # off the back of my card. They verified that it was NOT their number. It was most likely a phishing scam. She explained that when they call they ask for you to call back a 1-800 or 1-866 number. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO
Chase services telling me to call them as soon as possible, they call me 4 or 5 times a day and do not leave messages. My chase account is all paid up.
